Director of Student Affairs
Cardinal Stritch University is accepting applications for full-time Director of Student Affairs.  The Director of Student Affairs is responsible for the oversight and management of the Student Affairs department’s operation, budget, planning, personnel and technology. Responsibilities include promoting student engagement by leveraging the experiences of residence life, University programming, international education, study abroad, multicultural affairs and career education. Provide guidance and assistance to students, leadership and support for student programs, and contribute to an environment in which students are welcomed, valued, and challenged to embrace new opportunities for growth and development.  In addition, this individual also oversees the interdisciplinary areas of crisis management/prevention, new/transfer student orientation activities, and student conduct.   Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director of Student Success.
Information Literacy Librarian

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • In conjunction with a team of library instructors, provide leadership in expanding, enhancing, and assessing the delivery of library instruction to students both on-site and off-site, incorporating best practices in instruction and information literacy
  • Provide multi-tiered instructional programming based on the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education;
  • Collaborate with university colleagues to create and gain acceptance of university information literacy standards, including methods to implement and integrate the standards for all segments of the university community
  • Provide leadership and assistance with instruction for related learning applications and tools.
  • Promote services, collections, databases, and other resources to library patrons in order to assist and help with information needs
  • As needed or requested, provide individual reference consultations, assist with tours and library orientation sessions
  • Provide research assistance to library users during scheduled hours, including nights and weekends
  • Actively participate in library-wide planning and policy making in a shared decision-making environment
  • In the liaison role, create and collaborate on the creation of department/course resource web sites as requested
  • Coordinate, plan, and provide expertise for implementation and application of new technology to literacy instruction programs including multimedia guides and synchronous learning platforms
  • Maintain familiarity and understanding of current trends, standards, and technologies in information literacy and the general library environment, including related applications and tools
  • Work with the broader information services team to reinforce university policies, promote standards and best practices in the use of all technologies
  • Knowledge of university learning applications and tools.
  • Tier 2 technical and user support backup for designated learning applications as assigned.
   

Education and/or Experience:

  • A graduate library degree from an ALA accredited institution with academic Library reference experience

  • One year prior literacy teaching experience

  • Knowledge of information literacy standards and current trends.  Ability to demonstrate knowledge through teaching activities

  • Experience with assessment of student learning and the creation of library services embedded within online courses

  • Possess time management skills necessary to meet deadlines and set priorities

  • Experience with technologies relevant to the creation of online instruction guides and the management of synchronous learning events.

  • Participation in the ACRL Immersion program preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct web-based research and navigate other web-based resources

  • Embrace a strong service orientation, with effective interpersonal, oral, written and online communication skills. Maintain familiarity with current trends, standards, and technologies in information literacy

General Library Services - Library Assistant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to providing competent service and a spirit of hospitality in an academic setting.

    Circulation: 

  • Primary manager of Circulation Desk operations during morning hours, including work with student worker team.

  • Primary operational manager of ID card production services.

  • Process all material request and delivery services including Holds, Requests, Paging Slips, and associate record keeping.

  • Primary A.M. facilities manager including all building opening tasks.

      

    ILL/Document Delivery: 

  • Primary responsibilities for all inter-loan and document delivery activities.

  • Determines which libraries or networks to access for borrowing materials.  Through online system tools borrows materials for Stritch clientele and takes requests for Stritch materials after determining availability.

  • Prioritizes flow of inter-loan materials.

  • Performs all locating, copying, scanning, collating, mailing, e-mailing or other retrieval and transmission tasks.

  • Maintains usage and workflow data and evaluates daily procedures for improvement.

  • Mails out requested materials to off campus patrons and logs the activity.  This task includes checking out items, copying, packaging, and recording the statistics of each transaction.  

Material Processing:  

  • Under direction completes daily processing of new items including covering, stamping, security strip application, bar coding, and other tasks.

  • Keeps records on annual additions and deletions to library collections.

  • Provides backup to the serials check-in worker as assigned.

     

    Acquisitions:

  • Backup for Acquisition Supervisor when necessary.
  • Prepares PO, receives orders, communicates with vendors, keeps records, and maintains good files.
  • Supervises office supply purchasing.
  • Maintains usage, workflow, and fiscal data and evaluates daily procedures for improvement.
  • Keeps inventory of office supplies up to date.      

Other Duties:  

  • Can provide basic customer service at main service area as backup during periods of low use and coverage.
  • Creates reports related to all areas of operational activities for compliance, asset and service management.
  • This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and employees will also perform other related activities as assigned by the Library Operations Manager and other Library Personnel as
    required.

    Education and/or Experience:

     
    • The job applicant must be authorized to work in the United States for Cardinal Stritch University.

    • Requires at least two years of college or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Previous experience in a retail or public service environment.
    • Basic office skills with aptitude for fiscal transaction processing.
    • Ability to handle over the counter financial and system data transactions requiring trusted operational access.
    • Data entry skills with speed and accuracy
    • Experience with existing systems (OCLC, ILLIAD, RapidILL, and Koha) a plus.
    • Prefer previous experience in an academic and/or public library setting.  Computer and web experience a plus.

Director of Human Resources/Payroll

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements HR and Payroll policies for the University

  • Oversees all aspects of the HR/Payroll modules including system testing, maintenance, accurate and timely data entry and reporting

  • Responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws regarding employment and payroll computation and records management

  • Oversee accurate processing/reviewing of all payrolls, federal and state tax reporting, and annual distribution of W2 forms

  • Develop, implement, and maintain/update University compensation programs and philosophies for all employees

  • Responsible for the effective and timely managing of employee relations issues

  • Oversee and review the calculation of employee leave accruals, eligibility for overtime pay, termination pay, and all adjustments to payroll
  • Responsible for Affordable Care Act plan compliance
  • Responsible for all employee benefits plan administration including workers compensation and unemployment insurance

  • Works closely with HR, Payroll and Business Office staff to ensure proper accounting of payroll and employee benefits expenses including monthly/annual reconciliation to the general ledger for payroll and employee benefits expenditures

  • Responsible for University benefit plan and payroll related audits

  • Creates and delivers employee training programs including the OSHA Bloodborne pathogen training program and other risk management training programs

  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of employee records

  • Works with legal counsel as necessary and represents the University at hearings, legal activities, etc.

  • Oversees the employment/hiring practices and processes for all university employees

  • Serve as project manager and/or project team member for various HR/Payroll projects on an as needed basis

  • Oversees and reviews the completion of verification of employment request forms and inquiries from financial institutions and appropriate businesses and agencies such as Unemployment Insurance Departments
  • Oversees and reviews the monthly processing of Unemployment Insurance billings, monthly FICA, medical and retirement information for the OSF Sisters, special housing allowances for eligible ordained faculty and staff, garnishments, jury duty fee checks from employees
  • Responsible for monthly reporting including, but not limited to:  unemployment tracking, vacation/sick/personal tracking
  • Responsible for ad hoc reports as requested
  • Employee Benefits Committee member/Chair

  • Creates and monitors HR/Payroll budget

  • Maintain Whistleblower log for the University

  • Other duties as assigned

    Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, masters preferred and at least 10 years of progressive experience in human resources/payroll preferably within higher education.  Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Jenzabar or similar HRIS payroll software.
