Cardinal Stritch University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer, who will assist in providing athletic training services for intercollegiate sports programs at Cardinal Stritch University.  

The Position Requirements

Duties of the Assistant Athletic Trainer include but not limited to assisting with pre-participation physical examinations and complete medical documentation including an involved role with insurance. Carry out the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.  Provide practice and game coverage of athletic teams.  Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the operation of the sports medicine program according to the administrative practices of the department.  Supervise work study and student athletic trainers, as well as perform administrative duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.  Other duties include:

  • Care of athletic injuries and recovery programs for those sports assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Administration of emergency care to athletes as needed within his/her training and capabilities.
  • Supervisor of the training room and athletic training students when applicable
  • Developing programs for the prevention of athletic injuries for the various sports.
  • Provide consultation to coaching staff for the development of strength and conditioning programs
  • Keeping of adequate and accurate records.
  • Assist with inventory and ordering of athletic training supplies/equipment.
  • Work with coaches, athletic and orthopedic consultants/physicians in the care and/or rehabilitation of injured athletes.
  • Representing Cardinal Stritch University in a professional manner at all intercollegiate practices, meetings and contests.
  • Fully cooperate with other staff to create an optimal work environment with the department.  

Candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student-athlete and will be expected to work effectively in a private Catholic school environment.  

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a CAATE accredited program.  Minimum of two years of work related experience is required.  A CSCS certificate is a plus, but not required.  Must be eligible for licensure in Wisconsin.  Must be certified by the NATA BOC.  Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.  Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field is preferred.
