Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Summary:  The Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions position serves as a senior staff member and is a recruiter and admission counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  The Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions leads the coordination of recruitment territories, recruitment events (on and off-campus), scholarship events and acts as mentor/coach for the counseling staff.  In addition, the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for managing all aspects of a recruitment territory and keeping the Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Services and Strategic Planning informed of the status and the progress of each of the tasks outlined below. 

In terms of specific recruitment assignments, this position is responsible for recruiting and counseling incoming undergraduate students to programs offered by the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business & Management, College of Education & Leadership and The Ruth S. Coleman College of Nursing & Health Sciences.

  • Cultivate relationships with all prospects and applicants through consistent in-person, email and telephone contact in order to recruit prospective students and assist applicants throughout the admissions process
  • Lead the development of creative initiatives to enhance the campus visitation experience for all individual and group visits, and on-campus events
  • Assist in the development of high school territory recruitment plans consistent with the strategic plan and goals of the University
  • Schedule and attend designated recruitment events and college fairs
  • Aid in the development of promotional materials as assigned
  • Meet enrollment goals established by the Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Services and Strategic Planning
  • Serve as liaison with academic and non-academic departments as assigned
  • Collaborate with the Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Services and Strategic Planning for the hiring, training and mentoring of admissions staff
  • Assist in the hiring, training and mentoring of work study staff
  • Serve on University committees and as proxy for Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Services and Strategic Planning as assigned
  • Serve as undergraduate admissions team lead in the absence of the Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment Services and Strategic Planning
  • Serve as proxy for all undergraduate admissions counselors as assigned (in both temporary and extended vacancies)
  • Serve as team lead for undergraduate admissions counselors 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and coach undergraduate admissions staff
  • Mentor and coach undergraduate admissions work study staff

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, (Master’s preferred)
  • Working knowledge of and experience in recruitment and the admissions/enrollment management field preferred
  • Working knowledge of financial aid processes and transfer credit evaluation preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Minimum three years related work experience
