Stritch delegates earn recognitions at Model U.N.
The Model United Nations team returned home with several Best Delegate honors after their four-day mock U.N. experience in St. Louis. The group represented South Korea.
- Head delegate Bobby Spoden (senior political science major): Delegate's Choice, Security Council
- Stephanie Coker (senior political science and music major): Staff's Choice on the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
- Coker and Marie Gentil (sophomore, communications major): Staff's Choice on ECOSOC Plenary
Congratulations to these students and the full Stritch team. The group carried on a 50-year Stritch tradition of participation in this nationwide event.

The Sr. Justine Peter Lecture Series, "America's Corporal: A Civil War Veteran Makes His Way," presentation by James Marten
Join guest speaker James Marten at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for a profound story about how disabled Civil War veteran James R. Tanner was determined to recover from his wounds and reclaim his life.
The Sr. Justine Peter Lecture Series, "The War on the Poor," presentation by Joe Soss, Ph.D.
Soss' areas of scholarly expertise include poverty, social welfare policy, and race. His talk will partly be based on Disciplining the Poor, a highly acclaimed 2011 book Soss and two colleagues authored. He will also focus on the growing income and wealth inequality and the increasingly harsh treatment of the poor, especially African-Americans, over the last three decades.

Model UN Conference, St. Louis 2013
Students attended the conference, February 20-23, 2013. Participants represented their assigned nation as official delegates of the United Nations. This year, Stritch represented, Togo.
