Bachelor of Arts in Music
Music major applicants must pass an audition with Stritch Music faculty. The information on specific audition requirements may be obtained by contacting the Music department chair. Majors are required to earn a minimum grade of “C” in their major required courses, lessons and ensembles. All Bachelor of Arts students with a music major must take MT 140 to fulfill the math requirement for core.
All Music majors must complete: Music Theory/Ear Training 8 credits, Music History 6 credits, Applied Lesson 12 credits, Group Piano 6credits, Recital Seminar 8 semesters, Junior Recital (0 cr), and pass Piano Proficiency Exam (with an exception of piano majors).
In addition to these general music courses, each major area must complete the followingcourses:
- Piano -Advanced Piano Practicum 8 credits, Chamber Music/Accompanying 4 credits
- Voice -Phonetics 2 credits, Secondary Piano Lesson 2 credits, Concert Choirparticipation (0 credit, 8 semesters)
- Instruments -Chamber Music 4 credits, Chamber Ensemble participation (0 credit, 8 semesters)
- Composition -Counterpoint 2 credits, Form and Analysis 2 credits
Note: The credit requirements for the program are 36-38 credits
