ACBSP Accreditation

The College of Business and Management is an accredited member of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

ACBSP is the leading specialized accreditation association for business education that supports, celebrates, and rewards teaching excellence. The association embraces teaching excellence and emphasizes to students that it is essential to learn how to learn. ACBSP also acknowledges the importance of scholarly research and inquiry and believes that such activities facilitate improved teaching.

ACBSP, founded in 1988 and located in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, was created by its members to fulfill a need for specialized accreditation by institutions of higher education with business schools and programs. Specifically, that need was for business education accreditation based on the mission of the institution and of the respective unit, an accreditation that acknowledged and emphasized quality in teaching and learning outcomes.

There are approximately 2,400 U.S. institutions of higher education that have business administration, finance, management, and marketing. Economics is also often taught within a school of college of business, and is considered a sixth business-related field in such schools. Many institutions also have specialized areas of study such as human resource management, management information systems, and public administration that are part of a business academic unit and considered to be business-related curricula.

Accreditation with ACBSP affirms the College of Business and Management’s commitment to continuous academic quality improvement through its rigorous affirmation process. Among other qualities, ACBSP accreditation means that our faculty come to the classroom with real-world experience, programs reflect current realities and skills required in the business world, and student support services reflect the latest support strategies to ensure success in the program.

The College of Business and Management’s Bachelor of Science programs in Business Administration, Management, Strategic Management of Information Systems, and Human Services Management, and the Master of Business Administration and Master of Management, are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

The College of Business and Management’s recent academic reorganization aligned all traditional and non-traditional business degrees offered at Stritch under the auspices of the College. As a result, the College is working with ACBSP to expand accreditation to all degree programs offered. The following programs are not currently ACBSP accredited: AS in Business (Accelerated: College of Business and Management); BA in Accounting (Semester/Traditional: College of Business and Management); BA in Business (Semester/Traditional: College of Business and Management); BA in International Business (Semester/Traditional: College of Business and Management); BS in Marketing (Semester/Traditional: College of Business and Management) and BS in Hospitality Management (Accelerated: College of Business and Management).

Cardinal Stritch University’s College of Business and Management received its initial accreditation in 2001 and continues to remain in good standing within ACBSP. Stritch received its most recent reaffirmation from ACBSP in 2014.
