To qualify for admission to the M.A. in Urban Special
Education program, you must have:
no cost to submit the admissions application online. Applications
for this program are reviewed on a rolling basis so allow sufficient time
before the start of your program for consideration. Students applying as international students will need to submit additional
information regarding language proficiency and student visa status.
A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited
college or university. A GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
- Passing scores in all three sections of the
Core. A passing score within the past 5 years on the ACT,
SAT or GRE can be accepted in place of the Praxis I/Core.
- Passing score on the Praxis II: Middle School
Content Knowledge Test (# 5146)
Two Letters of Recommendation
personal essay, not more than two pages in length, outlining your reasons for
seeking teacher certification, life experiences that may have affected this
career choice, and the reasons you are interested in becoming an urban special
educator. For TFA applicants, in place of this
essay, narratives submitted to Teach for America may be submitted.
