Master of Arts (M.A.) in History
Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission to Cardinal Stritch University, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least a minor in history or equivalent preparation.
- A grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants educated outside of the U.S. must follow academic admission procedures relating to English ability and credential evaluation described on the International Admissions web page.
To gain admission to the Master of Arts (M.A.) in History program, you must also provide:
- A personal essay of two to three typed, double-spaced pages describing your reasons for seeking a graduate degree in history. The essay should include some detail about your qualifications, past academic and employment experiences, expectations for your graduate studies and professional goals.
- Two letters of recommendation from people (professors, employers, etc.) who can comment on your academic achievement and/ or potential to successfully complete graduate studies.
If a student does not meet all criteria, they may appeal to the History department for acceptance on a conditional basis.
With departmental approval, a maximum of six graduate credits in history may be transferred into the program from other accredited institutions.
