Master of Music (M.M.) in Piano

Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission to graduate studies at Cardinal Stritch University, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 system (probationary acceptance may be granted).
  • Three letters of recommendation from current or former professors, professional musicians, or employers who can comment on your academic achievement, performance skills, teaching ability, and/or potential to successfully complete graduate studies.
  • Applicants educated outside of the U.S. must follow academic admission procedures relating to English ability and credential evaluation described on the International Admissions web page.

Additionally, to qualify for admission to the Master of Music (M.M.) in Piano program at Cardinal Stritch University, you must have:

  • An audition with Cardinal Stritch University piano faculty. (Live auditions are preferred. CDs may be considered.)
  • A placement test in music theory and music history. This requirement may be waived based on the following criteria after a transcript review:
    • A bachelor’s degree in music completed within the last 5 years.
    • Sufficient credits and grades in music theory and music history coursework as determined by Stritch music faculty.

Application/Audition Deadlines

Fall Semester

  • Application must be submitted by March 1
  • Audition must be completed by May 1

Spring Semester

  • Application must be submitted by Oct. 1
  • Audition must be completed by Dec. 1
