Professional Training Portfolios
Students who have completed formal, off-campus courses and training are encouraged to submit supporting documentation in a prior learning portfolio.
Documentation should include proof of course completion and length, along with a description of learning objectives.
Examples of courses that are appropriate to submit in portfolio are:
- Professional and Continuing Education courses
- Employer-sponsored training programs
- Professional licenses
- Certificate courses
- Technical or vocational courses
A total of 36 credits of the 60 allowable credits for extra–institutional learning may be earned through portfolio and/or experiential essays. Up to 18 credits may apply toward an associate's degree. Portfolios are assessed on campus by trained evaluators using American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations, pre-assessed prior learning course information, and content expertise.
