To have a competitive edge in today’s business world, leaders need to be flexible and adaptive to respond to an ever-changing business climate. Our alumni panel will share their insights into how they are able to adapt to create sustainable business practices that balance the demands of the free-enterprise and the pursuit of profit with the need to share its rewards with key stakeholders.

Charlie Murty ‘08 is an e-commerce veteran. He currently serves as the Director of Technology for Shopbop, a subsidiary of He has held technology leadership positions at American Girl Inc., Dean Health System, and Famous Footwear.

Laurie Peregrine

Laurie (Tines) Peregrine ’06 co-founded CustomCall Data Systems in Madison, a global company providing IT support, specializing in the billing area. 

Peregrine recently retired from the company which she and husband sold to a Canadian entity.  She is already moving forward on her next entrepreneurial venture involving grapes!

Frank Peregrine

Frank Peregrine, a serial entrepreneur, who currently serves as vice president of business development at Enghouse Networks in Madison.  He co-founded with his wife, Laurie, CustomCall Data Systems in Madison.

He served as a chief finance officer in telecommunications and headed corporate planning for Microtel where he wrote the hotel chain’s first business plan which was used to raise $40 million in start-up capital.  Peregrine is a graduate of Carlton College and Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.


Ron Phelps, ’93 is the founder of the Phelps Group, a portfolio management group for Morgan Stanley in Madison.

He counsels business owners, corporate executives and families in the areas of wealth and retirement planning, hedging, asset allocation and alternative investments.


Michael Steger, ’97, ’99, ’05, is a member of Stritch’s College of Business and Management Advisory Council in Wisconsin and chief operating officer of Waukesha Metal Products.

His company was recently listed as the second fastest growing manufacturing company in Wisconsin with 76 percent sales growth over the last three years.
