Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Department at Stritch offers something for everyone. We aim to educate and enlighten through degree programs in theater and music, and through participation in Concert Choir or the Instrumental Chamber. We also engage and entertain the community through upcoming shows and performances.

Our talented theater students present four productions a year, from musicals to the classics. Most performances take place in the Joan Steele Stein Center for Communication Studies/Fine Arts, which includes the lovely 400-seat Nancy Kendall Theater.

Rooted in the liberal arts tradition, our theater program includes an active performance and production schedule in which students are afforded the opportunity to work in all areas of theater including acting, directing, stage management, dance, voice, stagecraft, costuming, lighting and properties.

Musical performances, including recitals, concerts, and musicales, are offered throughout the year in an array of musical genres. Performances take place in the Nancy Kendall Theater, located in the Stein Center; and Schroeder Auditorium, which is located in the Great Hall.

We are also proud to have been named Wisconsin's first “All-Steinway School” by Steinway & Sons. All-Steinway Schools demonstrate a commitment to excellence by providing their students and faculties with the best equipment possible for the study of music. As an All-Steinway School, every piano in Stritch’s music department is designed by Steinway & Sons.
