Urban Initiatives
Stritch's commitment to the city is both fundamental and enduring.
The Franciscans emerged in
the 12th and 13th centuries at a time of great economic
and social upheaval, with people moving into cities and experiencing tremendous
change. Unlike other religious orders that cloistered themselves, St. Francis
and his followers went to the city to help.
Stritch works to continue in that spirit of service to the city. By partnering with
organizations and individuals, Stitch is committed to playing a significant role in helping to
develop the educational, economic and social potential of the community at large.
