School of LeadershipLC1

The School of Leadership's mission is to prepare and sustain leaders who are catalysts for positive transformation of individuals, organizations and communities. The School offers degree programs at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels.

The Doctorate in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service is offered both as an Ed.D. and Ph.D., and is designed for leaders from diverse fields, including education, business, health care, the nonprofit sector and others. In addition, a Doctorate in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service in Higher Education is offered, also both as an Ed.D. and Ph.D.

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Educational Leadership, which leads to school administrator licensure with certifications as principal and director of instruction, also include students from outside the field of education.

The Integrated Leadership Program is designed for undergraduate students who desire to be influential on campus, in the community and as professionals in their major field of study.

The School of Leadership's service arm is the Leadership Center, which nurtures and enhances leadership in the educational, political, charitable and corporate sectors through programs, workshops, conferences and speakers. In addition, the Principals' Center offers leadership development opportunities to practitioners in the field.

Recent Highlights/Initiatives
The publication of "Urban School Leadership:  Managing Magnitude, Urgency and Complexity" (Cardinal Stritch University, 2007) marked the culmination of a two-year Wallace Fellows project in which 10 exemplary urban principals from the Green Bay and Milwaukee public schools shared strategies for the improvement of student learning in a variety of urban settings. The work of the principals in offering hope to the future of urban education was facilitated by Dr. Kristine Kiefer Hipp and Dr. Paul Weber.

The Doctoral Studies program has launched a new initiative to add an Ed.D. and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. This effort, which is being guided by School of Leadership faculty in tandem with representatives from four-year and two-year institutions, public and private, is slated for implementation in the summer of 2008.

The Master’s in Educational Leadership program has undertaken a program reinvention that will offer leadership development opportunities to students from outside of the education field. A new core curriculum, which will further enhance our preparation of school leaders, also provides an essential knowledge base about leadership that can either stand alone or be incorporated into degree and certificate programs that serve leaders from other fields.
