Dean

Anthea (Tia) Bojar, Ph.D.

BojarTia Bojar received her Ph.D. in educational administration from Marquette University. She obtained her master’s degree in curriculum and history from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and her undergraduate degree in education from Cardinal Stritch University. 

Bojar is presently the dean of the College of Education and Leadership at Stritch. She has held both teaching and administrative positions in K-12 schools. Bojar continues to stay connected to the “reality base” of K-12 schools. She serves on the boards of the Milwaukee Academy of Science, MTEC (Milwaukee Teacher Education Center), Nativity Jesuit Middle School and St. Joan Antida.

Bojar’s areas of expertise/interest include: learning organizations, change and transformation, brain compatible instruction, organizational development, organizational culture, leadership development, coaching as a means of professional growth, strategic planning, and conflict resolution. She has and continues to present locally, national and internationally on conflict resolution. She recently co-authored a book, "Leading with the Brain in Mind."

As the eldest of 11 children, Bojar grew up learning what it means to be of service to others. She believes that education is about transforming lives through leadership, learning and service and that our challenge is to determine ways to create K-12 learning communities in which this can be achieved.

CaldwellJoAnne Caldwell received her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Marquette University. She obtained her master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University in reading education and her bachelor's degree in English from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame. 

She is presently the associate dean of grant development and special projects for the College of Education and Leadership. Her past experiences include serving as department chair and director of teacher education at Stritch. She has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels and has been a high school reading specialist. 

Her areas of expertise include literacy assessment and intervention. She has authored or co-authored several books on these topics: "Qualitative Inventory 4," "Intervention Strategies to Follow Informal Reading Inventory Assessment," "Reading Problems Assessment and Teaching Strategies" and "Reading Assessment: A Primer for Teachers and Coaches."

Freda Russell

RussellFreda Russell teaches courses in advanced instructional methods and assessment in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Her research interest includes teacher education policy, higher education accreditation, and curriculum/ instructional practices as it relates to teacher preparation. She was formally an elementary and reading teacher and consulted with a team of school administrators and advisory board members to help start two elementary schools in the city of Milwaukee. She is currently a new partner with the Milwaukee Mosaic Partnership Program, whose goal is to "transform a community by transforming individuals."

Russell earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and master's degree in curriculum/instruction and reading from Concordia University Wisconsin. She is currently working on her Ph.D in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service at Cardinal Stritch University.

Dr. Linda Gordy

GordyLinda Gordy received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She obtained her master’s degree in reading from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and her baccalaureate degree in special education from Illinois State University. 
 
She is presently associate dean of the School of Urban Initiatives and program chair for the Department of Literacy and Language Development. Her past  experience includes teaching at the K-12 in general and special education, as well as teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, she has been a research assistant with the Center on English Learning and Achievement and mentor for many new teachers in Milwaukee. 
 
Gordy's areas of expertise are program development, urban education, children’s literature and integrated curriculum.

ThompsonMike Thompson obtained his Ph.D. in educational administration from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received a master of science degree in educational administration and a master of arts degree in education-history from University of Wisconsin-Madison. His baccalaureate degree was in history from St. Olaf College. 

Thompson is presently associate dean of the School of Leadership. Past experiences include acting as a district superintendent and assistant superintendent. He has served as a middle school principal and a secondary social studies teacher. 

His area of expertise is school district leadership and management, and he has extensive involvement in community service and leadership.
