Learn Judo at Stritch!

What Is Judo?

Judo (柔道 jūdō?, meaning "The Gentle Way") is a Japanese martial art and sport that combines various techniques (throws, matholds, chokes, and armlocks) from many Jujutsu Schools. Judo is an international, olympic, and world sport.

For the past 25 years, Stritch Alumnus and Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt), Dennis Staral '93, has introduced countless students, faculty, and staff to Judo. Members of the Judo class/club take a one-credit course (PE 117) that teaches the skills and techniques of Judo and self-defense, and fosters a sense of physical well-being.
