About your PIN (Personal Identification Number)

Logging in to My library account & subscription resources

Patrons access their TOPCAT library account by entering the barcode number found on the front of their CSU ID as well as a Personal Identification Number, or "PIN". This is to help insure that account information is private and secure.

*****NOTE: You are NOT automatically assigned a PIN number, you will create one for yourself the first time that you login.*****

Before you create a Personal Identification Number (PIN)

  • A PIN must be at least 4 characters long
  • A PIN can contain letters and numbers
  • The PIN is case sensitive
  • Special characters (such as $, !, *) are NOT allowed
  • You cannot repeat a character 3 or more times (i.e. "aaa", "ababa", "mexxx")

Creating a Personal Identification Number (PIN)

  1. Go to My Library Account
  2. Enter the barcode number found on the front of your CSU ID
  3. Leave the PIN number blank and click the SUBMIT button
  4. You'll be prompted to create a new PIN number

What if I forgot my PIN?

Patrons with a VALID EMAIL ADDRESS in their library account may click on the "Forgot Your PIN?" button to request a new PIN online from TOPCAT. You will receive an email to help you create a new PIN. Library staff do not have access to your PIN number.
