Lecture Series at Stritch

Stritch has a number of engaging lecture series on a variety of topics. Numerous events are scheduled during the 75th Anniversary in 2012. Below is a listing of series, with descriptions and dates for the first half of the year. Check back for fall dates and further details.

Kendall Lecture Series
Sponsored by a gift from Nancy and Lee Kendall
The Kendall Lecture Series was established to honor the liberal arts tradition of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. The series was created in 2007 through a generous endowed gift by Nancy and Leon Kendall. Its purpose is to bring recognized experts from around the world to Stritch to discuss relevant topics of interest that broaden horizons and encourage meaningful discussion among students and the broader Milwaukee community.

Helen Bader Leadership Speakers Series
Sponsored by the Leadership Center
This speaker series features effective leaders of various ages, races, and backgrounds who have made a positive difference in their communities. Participants have an opportunity to increase their awareness or knowledge of leadership information and resources, to reflect on and develop their own leadership practice, and to build or maintain relationships with others in the community.

Building a Better Milwaukee series
Sponsored by the Leadership Center and the Marquette University College of Professional Studies
This series explores what it means to unleash the power of our communities in order to build a better Milwaukee for all citizens.

Servant Leadership Series
Sponsored by the Leadership Center and the Milwaukee School of Engineering
This four-part conversation explores four tenets of servant leadership and their practical application in organizations that represent the business, non-profit, education and healthcare sectors. Each session includes a speaker to illuminate the theme of the evening, a panel of practitioners who will share their stories of implementing the servant leadership tenant of the evening, and an opportunity to engage in discussion that deepens participants' servant leadership practice.

Forums on Faith and Work
Sponsored by the Saint Clare Center for Catholic Life
This series of breakfast lectures is designed to illuminate discipleship for the business community by focusing upon the interplay of faith and work in light of the Gospels.

Co-Workers Breakfast Series  
Sponsored by the Saint Clare Center for Catholic Life
This series of topical morning prayer and reflection events is based on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops document, "Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord."

The annual symposium addresses critical issues within the Church, and the role of lay ministry, through presentations and discussion.

Booker Ashe Urban Ministry Program
Sponsored by the Religious Studies Department
Named for Brother Booker Ashe, a Franciscan brother who founded and was director of the House of Peace, the program's purpose is to educate, inspire, motivate and energize members of Milwaukee's faith communities to act – alone and together – for the sake of justice.
