Student Speaker

Amanda Woit

Amanda Woit is only the second student ever to give an address at a Stritch commencement ceremony. Prior to enrolling in the Master of Science degree in Sport Management program, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from Stritch in 2008, and held the highest graduating GPA of any Sport Management major.

During her time at Stritch, Woit won the Freshman of the Year award, was a three-time captain of the women’s soccer team, and was a recipient of the Player’s Player award, given to an outstanding student-athlete on the soccer team. She also was a member of the Dean’s List from 2006-08, and received the Flahive Family Scholarship.

In addition to her accolades on the field and in the locker room, she also served as a graduate assistant to the Sport Management department, where she assisted faculty with research and course planning, project development, assisted in fundraising initiatives, coordinated special events and was an adjunct faculty member. In addition to her work in the Sport Management department she worked with Stritch Athletics as leader of On-Campus Sport Marketing and Promotions. In this role, she led marketing campaigns, engaged with sponsors, helped develop game operations and coordinated the Wolves Athletics Midnight Mania event three years in a row.

Off campus, Woit was an intern with the Milwaukee Bucks and assisted in the team’s group sales and promotions, special events and reading program, was a marketing intern with the Milwaukee Bonecrushers football team, and was a staff intern with Milwaukee Sports and Recreation office.

In addition to working as a University tour guide and trainer, nursing admission counselor, welcome desk greeter and vector phone system operator, Woit was involved with a number of charitable projects through Stritch’s academic service learning program, including the Wisconsin Association for Blind Athletes and Our Next Generation, a Milwaukee nonprofit that provides mentoring, tutoring and support to urban youth. She also volunteered with the America Scores, an urban youth development program that promotes education and healthy living through sport.

Woit continues to volunteer as a soccer coach/referee and also works with Wauwatosa Recreation as a 4th grade girls basketball referee.
