Dr. Asuncion Miteria Austria, professor emerita
of psychology and founding chair and director of clinical training of the
graduate program in clinical psychology, was appointed chair of the Fellows
Committee for the Society for the Psychology of Women (Division 35) of the
American Psychological Association (APA). She was also reappointed as
Chair of the Finance Committee of APA's Society for the Psychological Study of
Ethnic Minorities (Division 45). She is also an APA Fellow of the Societies for
General Psychology, the Teaching of Psychology, Qualitative Inquiry, Clinical
Psychology, the Psychology of Women, and the Psychological Study of Ethnic
Minorities.
Dr. Janice E. Jones,
assistant professor in the doctoral leadership studies department, co-authored
a chapter, “Ability and Aptitude Assessment in Career Counseling” in “Career Development and Counseling: Putting
Theory and Research to Work,” 2nd edition.
Dr. Tony Frontier,
assistant professor of doctoral leadership studies, and Paul Mielke, who
recently finished his Ph.D. at Stritch, had the lead article in the November
2012 issue of Educational Leadership. The article, “Keeping Improvement in Mind,” focuses
on effective practices in teacher supervision and evaluation. Additionally,
Frontier gave two presentations at the ASCD Conference on Teaching and
Learning in Atlanta on Oct. 25. The presentations were on effective
supervisory practices and strategic planning practices in schools that improve
student learning.
