The Stritch Showcase, a fundraising event to honor, support and
celebrate Cardinal Stritch University’s 75th anniversary, will take
place Tuesday, Oct. 9, with event chairs Anita and Al Costigan and Martha and
Mark Flaherty welcoming community members and friends of the University.
“I truly
believe it is the Franciscan tradition and values that set Stritch apart,”
said Martha Flaherty, ’78 ’90, who earned associate and bachelor’s degrees in
art from Stritch. “When
Stritch’s faculty, staff, alumni and friends are able to come together amid
this inconspicuous yet courageous Franciscan ‘aura,’ we’re able to help ensure
that it seeps into each student’s experience and quietly and beautifully
transforms them.”
The event, which will include a reception, silent auction, dinner
and program, will be held in the Sister Camille Kliebhan Conference Center. Tim
Sheehy, president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association
of Commerce, will be honored with the University’s Community Builder
Award for his significant and ongoing work in support
of education in Milwaukee.
In addition to serving as chair of the American
Chamber of Commerce Executives and treasurer of Summerfest, Sheehy chairs the
board of Rocketship Charter School and serves on the boards of Milwaukee
College Preparatory, the Milwaukee Partnership Academy, Partners Advancing
Values in Education (PAVE), Schools That Can Milwaukee, Milwaukee Charter
School Advocates, Milwaukee Succeeds, School Choice Wisconsin, and Teach for
America.
"Tim’s commitment to finding solutions to the problems Milwaukee faces in its business and educational areas is considerable,” said Dr. James Loftus, Stritch president. “His vision, leadership and advocacy have resulted in meaningful change that will help give young people a better shot at success.”
