The Bean celebrated Fair Trade month throughout October by showcasing some of its work to become more environmentally and socially responsible. As part of this sustainability initiative, staff are improving recycling procedures behind the counter by recycling old coffee grounds to be used in a variety of ways, including in gardens, composts, and for other household uses. Coffee grounds are now available for free to members of the Stritch community. Simply bring a container (Ziploc, Tupperware, etc.) of any size and it will be filled with grounds for you to take home.
