Stritch’s winter commencement ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee.

More than 480 Stritch students will receive their degrees in December, and approximately 315 students (including a few August graduates) will participate in the commencement ceremony.

The day’s events will begin with a special Baccalaureate Mass for graduating students. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel. Family, friends, and members of the Stritch community are invited to attend.

Brunch will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Sister Camille Kliebhan Conference Center. Brunch tickets are required and must be purchased by Dec. 1. Please contact Jon Hertig at jdhertig@stritch.edu or (414) 410-4082 for additional information.

Stritch is honored to welcome Dr. Earnestine Willis as commencement speaker. She will also receive an honorary degree in humane letters from the University.

Dr. Willis is a general pediatrician with the primary appointment of Kellner Professor in Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She also serves as director of the Division of Health Equity and Urban Clinical Care Partnerships in the Institute of Health & Society. She has devoted much of her life to advocating for children's health and is the founder and director of the Center for the Advancement of Underserved Children. Through her efforts, she is a champion of Stritch’s Franciscan values.

Matthew Seipel has been selected as the student speaker for the commencement ceremony. Seipel is a B.A. degree candidate and Stritch Honors Scholar. As an active member of the Psychology Club and Veteran Student Organization, he has participated in many fundraisers and service projects throughout the Milwaukee area. Seipel says his greatest service was enlisting in the Wisconsin Army National Guard in May 2012. He looks forward to beginning a professional career in counseling and plans to work with veterans and their families.

Graduating students are reminded to pay close attention to deadlines and instructions as Dec. 15 quickly approaches. Please visit the commencement web pages for additional information.
