Faculty presentations and publications, Aug. 2 -Sept. 25

Dr. Asuncion Miteria Austria, professor emerita of psychology and founding chair of the graduate program in clinical psychology, organized and chaired a symposium, “Ethnic Minority Families in Professional Psychology: Learning, Creating, Pulling Together,” at the 2013 American Psychological Association (APA) Convention in Honolulu on Aug. 3. She and her daughter, Dr. A. Marie M. Austria, co-presented their paper, “Psychology an ‘Inherited' Profession: Mother and Daughter in Clinical Psychology,” at this symposium. In addition, Dr. Austria presented a paper, “Spirituality: Foundations of Coping and Adjustment in Older Women,” at a symposium on "Issues in the Psychology of Older Women.  Visibility, Spirituality and Health Issues.”  She also presented, “The Retiree as a Professor, a Woman, and an Ethnic Minority" in a symposium on “Retiring, But Not Shy: Feminist Psychologists Create Their Post Career.”

John H. Garot, adjunct faculty in the College of Business and Management, recently published a book, “Reading Between the Lines: Middle of the Road Reader for Young and Old Alike.” The book is a series of short stories and poems that tie in to several cultural issues including war, family structure, and children’s topics. 

Sister Gabrielle Kowalski, OSF, Ph.D., professor emerita of special education, presented a paper, “Post-Secondary Education for the Person with Intellectual Disabilities,” at the annual conference of the National Association of Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professionals in Reno, Nevada on Aug. 8.

Elizabeth E. Regimbal, assistant professor in the College of Business and Management, has been selected to serve on the review board of the MBAA International 2014 Conference to be held March 26-28 in Chicago. The Operations Management and Entrepreneurship Association (OMEA) reviews all full-length or research-in-progress papers and proposals for panels, symposia, practitioner workshops or student forums for review and possible presentation at the conference with additional publication in the OMEA Proceedings.
