Franciscan Mission Week begins Oct. 3

During Stritch’s annual Franciscan Mission Week, the University community pauses to reflect upon our mission and identity. All are invited to come together for several events that embrace our Franciscan heritage, spirituality and values, which guide us throughout the year. All events are free, open to the public, and take place on campus.

Thursday, Oct. 3
Transitus prayer service
6 p.m.
St. Francis of Assisi Chapel
Join in an evening prayer service commemorating the death of St. Francis of Assisi. A reception will follow.

Friday, Oct. 4 
Mass of the Feast of St. Francis and Blessing of the Franciscan Pilgrims
4 p.m.
St. Francis of Assisi Chapel
A special Mass honoring the Feast Day of St. Francis will include a community blessing of the Franciscan pilgrims departing for Assisi, Italy. A reception will follow.

“Franciscan Storytelling: Applying the Ideal to the Real”

William Short, OFM, is a friar of the Santa Barbara Province and associate director of the Franciscan School of Theology. He is a renowned international speaker who tells the “Franciscan story” through an understandable and humorous approach.
