Cardinal Stritch University hosted the 42nd
annual Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi Corporate Ministries Conference Oct.
This conference brought together representatives of all 10 of
the Sisters’ corporate ministries, which includes Stritch. The others include
St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care
(St. Francis), Canticle Court Inc. and Juniper Court Inc. (St. Francis),
St. Coletta's of Illinois, St. Coletta’s of Wisconsin, Cardinal Cushing Centers
(Braintree and Hanover, MA.), St. Elizabeth School (Baltimore), the Franciscan
Center (Baltimore), and the Marian
Center for Nonprofits (Milwaukee).
The theme of the conference was “Franciscan Stories for a
Time of Change.”
Representatives of the Sisters and the corporate ministries
toured the University and enjoyed Stritch’s hospitality during their three
day meeting. Stritch presenters during
the conference included Dr. James Loftus, president and host; Dr. Nancy Blair,
professor in the College of Education and Leadership; Dr. Mike Dickmann,
professor emeritus; and Sister Adele Thibaudeau, OSF, former director of the
Stritch Center for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation.
In addition, the campus community were invited to attend a
keynote presentation by Brother William Short, OFM, titled “Franciscan
Storytelling: Applying the Ideal to the Real” Oct. 11.
Brother Short is a friar of the Santa Barbara Province and
associate director of the Franciscan School of Theology. He is a renowned
international speaker who tells the “Franciscan story” through an
understandable and humorous approach.
