honored to welcome Dr. Mehmood Khan, executive vice president and chief
scientific officer of global research and development for PepsiCo, as
commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient.
Over the last five years, Khan has led PepsiCo’s investment
in research and development; recruited expert clinical scientists, global
health leaders, and medical professionals; and directed new business
joining PepsiCo, Khan served as president for Takeda Global Research and
Development Center. He has also worked as a consultant, endocrinologist, and
faculty member at the Mayo Clinic and the Mayo Medical School in Rochester,
on many national and state committees, including the New York Academy of
Sciences, the State of Illinois Innovation Council, and the Board of the
American Diabetes Association Research Foundation. He earned his medical degree
from the University of Liverpool Medical School, England, and completed a
fellowship in clinical endocrinology and nutrition and the University of
Minnesota-Minneapolis’ Department of Medicine and Food Science and Nutrition.
Khan spoke at the May commencement ceremony in Minnesota and recently visited
with students there.
events will begin with a special Baccalaureate Mass for graduating students.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel on the
main campus. Family, friends, and members of the Stritch community are invited
following Mass, graduates will be invited to a celebratory brunch. Additional
information will be provided to graduates soon.
