Under the leadership of its dean, Dr. Daniel Scholz, the
College of Arts and Sciences has appointed three associate deans of the arts,
sciences, and humanities.
Dr. Dennis King has been appointed associate dean of arts;
Dr. Carl Mueller has been appointed associate dean of sciences; and Dr. David
Stosur has been appointed associate dean of humanities.
The positions will report directly to Scholz.
Under this reorganization, Scholz will work with the
associate deans to align the College with the goals of the “Preferred Future”
as articulated in the University’s Visioning and Planning. One of the main
focuses for the 2013 -14 academic year will be ongoing revisions to the General
Education curriculum, also known as the “Liberal Arts CORE.”
Prior to the reorganization, Scholz led an 18 month
assessment process with the department chairs of the College of Arts and Sciences,
which included several opportunities for faculty and staff to provide feedback.
The associate deans will officially begin their new roles in
the College on Aug. 1
