Wisconsin Teacher Fellows include 10 alumni

Of the 100 Teacher Fellows recently selected in Wisconsin as 2014 Herb Kohl Foundation Fellows, 10 are graduates of Stritch, including:

  • Angelina Cicero, ’95 (Homestead High School, Mequon)
  • Laurie Ellis, ’02 (Pius XI High School, Milwaukee)
  • Susan Gattoni, ’97, ’03, ’08 (Steffen Middle School, Mequon)
  • Misty Ellen Kreider, ’00 (Lincoln Avenue Elementary School, Milwaukee)
  • Joel Marinan, ’98 (Underwood Elementary, Wauwatosa)
  • Jason Smith, ’02 (Waukesha South High School, Waukesha)
  • Donna Unger, ’78 (Donges Bay Elementary, Mequon)
  • John Allen Wilkinson, ’12 (Greendale High School, Greendale)
  • Heidi Jo Schneider, ’10 (St. Paul Lutheran, Luxemburg)

The Teacher Fellows are recognized for their “superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and for their leadership and service within and outside the classroom.”

Teachers receive a $1,000 grant to be used “in pursuit of their unrealized goals for their classrooms or professional development” and their schools receive a matching $1,000 grant. Each year, the Wisconsin Teachers of the Year are chosen from the pool of Kohl Teacher Fellows.
