Graduating students from Cardinal Stritch University’s Minnesota classroom sites received their diplomas June 1 in the Coeur de Catherine Building at St. Catherine University, 2004 Randolph Ave. in St. Paul.

Stritch alumnus James Prom, founder and owner of Invasive Models LLC and a Plymouth, Minn. city council member, served as commencement speaker. Read the text of Prom's speech.

A 1999 Stritch B.S. in business administration graduate, Prom’s student capstone paper became his business plan to create Invasive Models LLC, a company that develops and manufactures vascular anatomy models for the rehearsal and demonstration of invasive vascular procedures. The business has sold thousands of hand-blown glass and clear molded plastic Angiogram Sam models around the world. The product line is in its fourth generation and continues to be the most commonly used training model for cardiovascular staff and cardiologists.

Prom presently serves on the Ward 4 City Council seat in Plymouth, Minn., representing the northeast area of the city. He is past president of the Bass Lake Improvement Association, an organization that works to improve and police water quality issues on Bass Lake in northeastern Plymouth. He also serves as a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, the largest charity organization in America.

Richard Dentinger, a Bachelor of Science in Management degree candidate, addressed his peers as the ceremony’s student speaker. Read the text of Dentinger's speech.

Dentinger has spent more than 20 years as a manager in the masonry industry. For the last 10 years, he and his brother have operated their own commercial masonry business in St. Paul.  During this time, their company has left its mark on many brick, block, and stone projects in the metro area, including much of the masonry and stone featured on the Minnesota Twins’ Target Field.

Stritch’s graduating class in Minnesota includes 48 undergraduates and 24 graduate students. They joined 679 others who received associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees this spring from Stritch’s other locations in Wisconsin and Illinois.

The University’s Minnesota region is based in Eden Prairie, with additional classroom locations in Coon Rapids, Owatonna, Rochester, and Woodbury.

Stritch President Dr. James Loftus presided over the ceremony and offered a charge to the graduates. A reception for the graduates followed the ceremony. In celebration of commencement weekend, a Padelford Riverboat Cruise along the Mississippi River took place on Saturday, May 31.
