Career Assessments
Career assessments are one way to further your self-knowledge as an opportunity to explore and discuss your interests, values and personality preferences. Career Services offers the Campbell Interest and Skills Survey (CISS) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) free of charge to students, alumni, faculty and staff.
Campbell Interest and Skill Survey (CISS)
The Campbell Interest and Skill Survey is a survey of self-reported interest and skills that compares your responses to those of individuals who are satisfied in their careers. The CISS organizes interests and skills into seven themes or orientations: Influencing, Organizing, Helping, Creating, Analyzing, Producing and Adventuring.
The orientations are broken down into specific interest, skills and occupations for discussion and further exploration.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator reports personality preferences pertaining to how you are energized, take in information, make decisions and organize your world. This knowledge of your preferences and strengths can help in evaluating how different roles within a career will feel including what may feel natural and what may feel more challenging.
Career Assessments Are Not a Career Prescription.
The results will not tell you the career you "should" be. Assessments can help in identifying personal and occupational themes for further exploration as well as skills you enjoy using or could develop. Rather than prescribing a single, “best” occupation for your type or interests, assessments focus on patterns or themes, which can help you with career decision-making by increasing your own self-knowledge and offering ideas for exploration and research.
