Cardinal Stritch University holds the Commencement ceremony, and related activities, each spring in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 


Cap and Gown Pick-up Information:

Academic apparel will be available for pick-up during these times:

Wednesday, May 10th: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Thursday, May 11th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Friday, May 12th: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Saturday, May 13th: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Monday, May 15th through Thursday, May 18th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm 
Friday, May 19th: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Saturday, May 20th: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Sunday, May 21st: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

Although the bookstore will be open on Sunday, May 21st from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, it is strongly recommended that you pick up your academic apparel prior to this date.

If your academic apparel was ordered after March 24th, it will not be available for pick-up until Wednesday, May 17th.

Commencement Mass

This liturgy is a celebration in the Catholic tradition of the University where all graduates in attendance will receive a San Damiano cross to wear at Commencement. All graduates (undergraduate, graduate and doctoral) and families are encouraged to attend regardless of faith denomination.

Please join Dr. and Mrs. James P. Loftus immediately following Mass to celebrate all of our graduates. President Loftus will be giving a champagne toast. Light appetizers will be served and there will be cash bar. Read a letter from President Loftus to the 2017 Cardinal Stritch University graduates.

Photography

Proofs will be sent to your home and via email within three to five days after graduation. Pictures can be ordered online, by phone, or by mail. GradImages can be contacted at (800) 261-2576 or www.gradimages.com. Registering with GradImages provides them with the information they need to deliver your graduation proofs to you in a timely manner. Giving them an accurate mailing address and email address will allow them to get your proofs to you on the first try.You may also provide them with email addresses of up to six friends and family members to allow them to celebrate in the accomplishment.

We have provided Sendik's exclusive use of our logo to make it easier for students and families to order cakes celebrating graduation. Round and pan cakes are available from the bakeries in Whitefish Bay and Mequon.

Opportunity for Graduating Students

One undergraduate and one graduate student will be selected to speak at the appropriate commencement ceremony in May.  This could be your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share your ideas and inspirations with your peers. 

Criteria for application:

  • A student earning any degree is eligible
  • Must be in good standing at the University and in the community
  • Must have met all requirements to participate in commencement
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Must be endorsed by academic department (this will be part of administrative process)

To apply:

  • Complete application form
  • Attach updated resume
  • Write a 3 page speech (5-6 minutes when read) that:
    • Is relevant and inspiring to graduates of all majors or programs
    • Is consistent with Franciscan values
    • Includes at least one compelling story or memory that inspires you to go forward and make a difference
    • Includes a “charge” or “challenge” to fellow graduates about how they might make a difference

Finalists will be invited to audition the week of April 10th.

Application, resume, and 3 typed pages of your speech (double spaced) are due to the Student Affairs Committee by March 27th.  Complete applications can be sent by email, mailed to Payal Chawda, 6801 N.
