The FYE offered to students in the College of Arts and Sciences is intended to include an introduction to the Franciscan ideas, foster critical thinking and provide college orientation and skills sets for new students.
Based on an innovative, nationally-recognized design, the First Year Experience program at Cardinal Stritch University brings new students into a small, intimate course that focuses not only on a special, engaging topic, but also provides a general orientation to the academic life. But knowing that the college experience extends beyond the classroom, the program also brings students together once a week to hear from national and local leaders, relect on the Franciscan values, and engage with their fellow students through interactive discussions and common readings.
Specifically, FYE provides:
-low-pressure, out-of-class contact with faculty, staff and other students
-the opportunity to learn from enthusiastic and engaging instructors
-off-campus service experiences in the heart of Milwaukee
-the integration of intellectual, social, and emotional aspects of college life
-a supportive Stritch community designed to help students adjust and succeed.
The Colleges of Business and Management, Education and Leadership and Nursing have similar introductory courses.
