Student Leadership Opportunities
Stritch has several leadership opportunities available on campus.
Bean Workers
The Bean is Stritch’s campus coffeehouse, and Bean staff is in charge of beverage preparation, operating the espresso machine, customer service, and serving as positive representatives of Stritch.
Residence Hall staff
Desk workers manage the daily operation of the reception desks at Assisi and Clare residence halls, including checking in guests, scheduling overnight guests, checking out equipment, collaborating with the Residence Life staff, and completing any administrative tasks.
Community Assistants/Resident Assistants
Community assistants (CA’s) are student leaders who live in Assisi and Clare residence halls on the all-freshmen floors. They work in conjunction with the resident assistants and perform programming and paraprofessional/counseling duties during the academic year.
Resident assistants (or RA’s) are student leaders who serve as leaders on each wing of both residence halls. They provide programming, community development, paraprofessional advising/counseling functions and other duties throughout the academic year.
Den Workers
The Den is a lounge located in the Clare Residence Hall. Employees oversee the Den from 7 p.m. to midnight each night and are in charge of selling food and managing events.
ENGAGE Program Assistants
ENGAGERS are non-freshmen students who work with new students throughout the first six weeks of the semester. ENGAGE programs are interactive, intentional events sponsored by the Division of Student Development, and the ENGAGERS' role is to assist in the planning and promotion of these activities, attend the activities with freshmen, and connect with new students.
LeaderSHIP Development Program
LeaderSHIP is a spring semester leadership development program that is intended to get students involved with leadership opportunities offered on campus. Students are nominated by faculty or staff to participate in this program. The program begins with a half-day retreat and is followed by six weeks of one-hour meetings where students look at topics ranging from personality development, leadership style, opportunities for involvement, etc. This is a great way for emerging leaders to get exposed to the variety of leadership opportunities available at Stritch.
Orientation Leaders
Orientation leaders are upper-class students who help plan and coordinate new student orientation programs. Their main responsibility is to welcome incoming students into the University community and help students transition to college life.
Peer Educators
Peer educators are students who work with the University’s Center for Counseling and Mental Wellness and the Student Health Center. These students provide health and wellness education for the Stritch community. The program provides training and continuous growth for students who are passionate about educating their peers and raising awareness on mental and physical health issues.
