Peace and Justice

University Ministry is committed to practicing peace and justice in light of our Catholic, Franciscan values. We provide educational experiences along with actual action to eradicate injustice. 

Peace and Justice Action

  • Alternative Spring Break Trip
    • 8-12 students go on a week-long trip somewhere in the country to learn about social injustices and actively practice peace-making. 
  • School of the Americas Watch
    • Students learn about the School of the Americas, violence and war, and attend the School of the Americas Watch in November in Georgia 
  • St. Ben's Meal Program (monthly)
    • Students, staff and faculty serve a meal at St. Ben's on the first Thursday of each month

Peace and Justice Education

  • Soup with Substance (semesterly event)
    • Stritch community members gather to engage in conversations about relevant social justice issues
  • Catholic Relief Services
    • 2-3 students attend a Catholic Relief Services conference to learn more about how to educate students on campus about relevant social justice issues
  • Faith and Film (semesterly event)
    • Stritch community members gather to watch a film together and reflect theologically on the social justice issues that arise and the faith dimension of the film
  • Other
    • We have speakers and presentations based on the themed topics of the month/semester
