Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) Completion
Overview
The Ruth S. Coleman College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) Completion program for registered nurses in a one-day-per-week format. The courses run from 5 to 9 p.m. one night each week, except for the two clinical courses.
The two clinical courses are:
- NUR 420, which runs from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
- NUR 430; clinical hours are arranged by the student, preceptor and the faculty.
The courses are taught over six-, eight-, or 10-week time periods, depending on the number of credits, and each course has either 18 or 25 hours of mandatory study team meetings outside of class time. The study teams decide the times and dates of the meetings, and hours are monitored by faculty.
The program uses adult learning theory as the basis for the design of the courses so that projects are designed for working registered nurses and should have meaning for them in their work.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) Completion program is accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
