Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee LogoThe Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee (HPGM) and the Cardinal Stritch University Leadership Center are partnering to expand the leadership development offerings of both organizations. We are committed to providing offerings that are convenient, relevant and affordable. Our goal is to help emerging and experienced leaders maximize their leadership potential by advancing their leadership skills to achieve personal and professional aspirations.

These offerings in September include luncheons, seminars, and certificate programs in the areas of leadership, networking, coaching, career/personal branding, change management and accountability.

Overview: Building productive networks has multiple professional benefits, from building a client base to establishing a more collaborative work environment. During this practical, three-part seminar, you will learn how to maximize networking opportunities from an orientation of Latino culture, service and authenticity. Participants will practice and apply successful networking strategies during the corresponding Nocha de Pachanga event.

Coaching for Greater Effectiveness

Intro to Coaching Luncheon Workshop

Overview:  Coaching skills used as leadership strategy have been shown to increase teamwork, boost productivity and improve employee engagement. Coaching also encourages exploration and collaboration, key skills for acquiring and retaining clients, customers and employees. The Introduction to Coaching Workshop will teach you about the art of coaching and how it supports your personal and organizational transformations.

Foundations of Coaching Seminar

Dates: Oct. 10, 11: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Overview: Coaching is a powerful process uniquely designed to create and sustain lasting change. Coaching helps create healthy, collaborative environments where professionals can examine their life purpose, ambitions and desires that lead to personal and career transformation. This seminar will teach you how to:

  • Develop your leadership capacity with coaching skills
  • Use four core coaching competencies to facilitate learning and action planning
  • Use empowering questions to encourage commitment
  • Stretch beyond what you thought you could do and get results

Overview: Coaching skills empower us to discover solutions to the personal and systemic problems that inhibit growth – within ourselves and our organizations. Learning to use these skills creates understanding and builds connection, rapport and satisfaction. This certificate program will give you an advanced leadership strategy for personal and organizational transformation by coaching. Over four two-day sessions, you will:

  • Learn how to lead your organization with the support of your personal Master Certified Coach
  • Learn coaching skills to guide you to greater levels of personal satisfaction
  • Create your leadership vision in order to advance your collaborative relationships
  • Learn the four levels of listening that determine understanding and results
  • Explore the five domains of emotional intelligence

Managing Your Personal Brand

Overview: Whether it is the Starbucks cup that you are carrying down the street or the Subway product placement in your favorite sitcom, businesses get the power of branding. You also have a brand – a personal brand – which is comprised of your image, culture, personality, talent and more. During this luncheon workshop, you will learn about the importance of personal brand management and how it can help or hinder your professional goals.

Career and Personal Brand Building Seminar

Dates: Jan. 18; Feb. 1, 15, 29, 7-9 p.m.
Fee: $165 HPGM members/Stritch alumni; $275 general public

Location: UMOS, 2701 S.Chase Ave., Milwaukee

Overview: Whether you know it or not, you have a personal brand. It is comprised of your image, culture, personality, talent and more. During this practical, four-part seminar, you will assess your personal brand through a 360 degree tool. You will examine the relationship between personal brand and career success and develop a brand platform that will help drive your professional development.

Overview: Accountability is often confused with fault, blame and guilt, yet it is a critical factor in building credibility and achieving success. During this seminar, you will learn what it takes to be a more accountable leader and better manage expectations of yourself and others in the workplace.   

Leadership for New Managers Certificate

Dates: Jan. 26, Feb. 23, Mar. 22, Apr. 26, May 24, June 14: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Overview: Becoming a new manager is a significant transition in one’s career. It requires a shift from contributing to your organization as an individual, to contributing to the organization through the work of others. It also requires a new set of skills, including delegation, leading teams, fostering accountability, and making complex decisions. This program is designed to strengthen a fundamental skill set that will contribute to your success in leading others and improving business results through employee engagement. During this certificate program, you will:

  • Examine the principles of effective leadership and management
  • Learn the fundamental skills of getting results through other people
  • Apply frameworks for making data based decisions
  • Develop practices for building strategy and managing innovation

Overview: In a world of constant flux, our ability to adapt and lead productive change has become a high-stakes endeavor, particularly in the business world. How do you relate to change? How can you successfully lead a change process? During this interactive seminar, you will explore the essential knowledge and skills required for contributing to positive change:
