Research is an important component of Cardinal Stritch University’s activities. Since most research involves human participants, it is important that the rights of research participants are protected. This is not only an ethical obligation but a legal responsibility as well. Any student, faculty or staff member of Cardinal Stritch University who anticipates performing research utilizing human participants (including certain classroom activities), must have their research reviewed and approved by Stritch’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). This applies whether these participants are recruited from Stritch or elsewhere.
Before beginning the IRB process, all students should read the IRB Overview and Definitions of Research so that you are familiar with what is considered research and what are considered normal classroom activities. When you are ready to begin your submission, please refer to the forms in your college, as outlined below.
