The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Urban Education program is designed for post-baccalaureate students who are working in an urban classroom as a paraprofessional or unlicensed teacher and have a desire to teach in diverse settings, urban environments, and underrepresented populations.
The program has a dual emphasis: to provide initial teacher certification in PreK-6 education plus either bilingual or learning disabilities certification, and to offer a master's degree option.
Highlights of the program include:
- Ability to student teach at your current school.
- Convenient, accelerated course offerings, allowing you to complete the program while working full-time.
An integral aspect of the certification process is the development of a professional portfolio. This portfolio will evolve into a professional development plan and is designed to meet the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requirements for teacher licensure and renewal.
