NLN Pre-Admission Exam for RNs

The National League for Nursing Pre-admission Examination for Registered Nurses (NLN PAX RN) is a standardized entrance exam for potential nursing students who seek admittance into nursing schools nationwide.


The National League for Nursing Pre-admission Examination for Registered Nurses (NLN PAX RN) is a standardized entrance exam for potential nursing students who seek admittance into nursing schools nationwide.

The NLN PAX RN consists of three main areas: verbal skills, which consists of both word knowledge and reading comprehension; mathematics, which includes basic calculations, word problems, and incorporates algebra, geometry, conversions, graphs, and applied mathematics; and science, which examines general biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.

Registration Procedure

The priority deadline for Fall 2013 admission is March 1, 2013. Applications for admission will be accepted after March 1 only if an NLN Pre-Admission Exam composite score can be provided. This exam is no longer offered at Stritch, but you can search for upcoming test dates, locations and registration information through the NLN online test registration system.

Re-test, Refunds, Rescheduling and Other Exam Policies

It is very important that you read and understand the Refunds, Rescheduling, and Other General Exam Policies set forth by the NLN.

Stritch permits applicants to complete the NLN PAX RN once per application term, not to exceed two consecutive application terms.
