NLN Pre-Admission Exam for RNs

The National League for Nursing Pre-admission Examination for Registered Nurses (NLN PAX RN) is a standardized entrance exam for potential nursing students who seek admittance into nursing schools nationwide.

The NLN PAX RN consists of three main areas: verbal skills, which consists of both word knowledge and reading comprehension; mathematics, which includes basic calculations, word problems, and incorporates algebra, geometry, conversions, graphs, and applied mathematics; and science, which examines general biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.

Registration Procedure

The priority deadline for Fall 2013 admission is March 1, 2013. Applications for admission will be accepted after March 1 only if space is available. You may register for an upcoming NLN PAX RN exam, and your scores can be used for Fall 2013 admission, only if space is available. The NLN PAX RN will be offered on Cardinal Stritch University’s campus in Milwaukee on the following dates:

Check-in will take place at the One-Stop Desk in Bonaventure Hall (administration building).

Test Format: Pencil and paper, multiple choice
Duration: 3.5 hours

Registration for the NLN PAX RN must be completed directly through the NLN online test registration system

Create a user account and register for the NLN PAX RN via the Registration Store. Select the desired examination date offered at Cardinal Stritch University.
Please note that registration for each of the exam dates closes 14 days prior to the exam date. Timely registration is required.

Re-test, Refunds, Rescheduling and Other Exam Policies

It is very important that you read and understand the Refunds, Rescheduling, and Other General Exam Policies set forth by the NLN.

Stritch permits applicants to complete the NLN PAX RN once per application term, not to exceed two consecutive application terms.

Stritch prohibits the use of electronic devices (calculators, cell phones, pagers, and/or computers) at all times, and access to personal belongings will be limited throughout the duration of the exam.
