The Principals’ Center is founded on the belief that school leaders who are reflective about their work, and engaged in sustained exchange of ideas with colleagues, have greater potential to create schools in which all students learn.
Therefore, the programs/services of the Principals' Center are focused on the following purposes:
- To encourage principals and other school leaders to engage actively in their own personal and professional development by sponsoring and leading workshops and discussions, supporting each other in dealing with controversial issues and sharing resources relevant to professional growth
- To encourage and assist others committed to the professional development of principals to establish their own models for professional growth;
- To engage students and faculty at Cardinal Stritch University in a mutual exchange of ideas with school leaders and potential school leaders so each may learn from the other;
- To create awareness of the importance of the school principal in facilitating effective practice that reflects current research and best practice.
The Principals’ Center is affiliated with the College of Education and Leadership. It promotes a collegial relationship between the University and school principals, other school leaders, and potential school leaders.
The affairs of the Principals’ Center are governed by an elected board of directors whose members are practicing or retired school leaders and a faculty liaison from the University.
