Discovering Your Call to Serve and Lead
March 15, 2011
In the spirit and tradition of St. Francis of Assisi, Dr. Peter Holbrook presented a workshop that began with a journey of self-awareness and value identification. In order to build their leadership capacity, participants drew insights from a model of Franciscan servant leadership that aligns leadership purpose with calling, passion, and core values. Dr. Holbrook demonstrated how this commitment to service can achieve a shared vision within your leadership practice, both personally and professionally.
Dr. Peter Holbrook is executive director of leadership and organizational learning and head of the Leadership Center at Cardinal Stritch University. He has almost 25 years of experience in higher education, serving the past 20 years at Stritch. Prior to joining the Leadership Center, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Stritch. He received his Ph.D. in leadership studies from Stritch, with a research focus on Franciscan servant leadership.
Serving and Leading Coherently
Feb. 22, 2011
Dr. Nancy Stanford-Blair incoporated insights from 36 exemplary leaders to describe a natural and potent relationship among leadership formation, performance, and sustainability. Drawing upon her book, "Leading Coherently: Reflections from Leaders Around the World," this workshop revealed prominent themes that cut across gender, culture, and context. Participants observed the dynamic relationship among leadership values, character, behavior, and disposition, and they applied practical examples from their own leadership practice. Dr. Stanford-Blair utilized a model for assessing and advancing coherent leadership in real-world situations.
Richard R. Pieper, Sr., Chairman of PPC Partners Inc. introduced this workshop with a describtion of his journey as a servant leader.
Dr. Nancy Stanford-Blair is professor of leadership studies at Cardinal Stritch University. A former K-12 teacher and administrator, Dr. Stanford-Blair currently teaches and consults in the areas of leadership formation and sustainability, organizational development and culture building, and the creation of learning organizations.
