#26 Michael Zolecki – Head Coach (5th Season)

zoleckiMichael Zolecki returns to the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves baseball program for his fifth season at the helm.  While the Wolves baseball program is entering its 17th year of its history, Zolecki has become the second longest tenured coach at the University, trailing only Ken Bigler Jr. at the post. 

Prior to becoming the Wolves’ fifth head coach, Zolecki spent three seasons as the program’s pitching coach. Over that span, he helped improve the young arms of the staff by decreasing the team’s earned run average by one run every year. Through his skills of development, he has coached 11 NAIA Region VII Scholar-Athletes, two Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Conference athlete, and seven Honorable Mention All-CCAC players. 

He also has ensured that his positive impact on the program hasn’t stopped after stepping out of the coach’s box. Relying on his foundations of hard work, discipline and commitment to teaching life skills, Zolecki is also the coordinator of the NAIA-sponsored Champions of Character program for the Stritch Athletic Department.

Along with trying to build a winning tradition on the field, Zolecki has taken to ensuring educational success for his players. He has helped guide the program's players to achieving a team GPA of 2.86.

Zolecki continues to bring a wealth of experience to the Wolves baseball program that generates from his own successes as a baseball player.  Zolecki, a standout pitcher from Thomas More High School in Milwaukee, went on to be a three-year letterman at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Tex.  Playing for the Rattlers, Zolecki was a key pitcher for the program's run to a school record 45 wins in the 1993 season, where he averaged nearly 11 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.  He also registered the eighth highest total of strikeouts by any pitcher at the university with 115 strikeouts that season, helping him earn a selection to the Heart of Texas All-Conference team. 

With Zolecki’s tremendous individual contributions as a player, a member of a team that had two 40-plus win seasons, and won two conference championships, he will forever be remembered as he was elected a member of the university’s Hall of Fame and inducted in January of 2008. 

He took his success as a player to an even higher level as he was drafted in the fifth round of the 1993 amateur baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies.  By 1994, Zolecki was rated as a top-10 prospect within the Rockies organization. Playing a total of six seasons, he played as high as AA and was a member of the Rockies and Chicago White Sox organizations before turning his eyes towards coaching. 

Zolecki currently holds a degree in marketing from St. Mary’s University and resides in Milwaukee.


#15 David Snieg – Assistant Coach (1st Season)David Snieg

David Snieg becomes the newest addition to the Wolves’ baseball staff for the 2008 season, bringing with him a solid base of coaching and playing experience.  Snieg will be working primarily with the hitters, infielders and assist in base-running. 

Before coming to Cardinal Stritch University, Snieg spent four years as an assistant coach for the varsity program of his alma-mater, Cedarburg High School.  As a student, he was a letter-winner for baseball, football, track & field for the Bulldogs and was a part of a baseball program that finished second in the WIAA State Baseball Tournament twice.  Returning as a coach after his undergraduate studies, he worked with Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame member Jack Friess. While at Cedarburg, Snieg worked with the outfielders, first basemen, base-running and was in the first base coach’s box for games. Off the field, he helped coordinate and run pitching, catching, and conditioning camps for the youth programs around the community. Snieg also plays in the Land O’ Lakes Baseball league as an infielder and utility outfielder for the Cedarburg Mercs, having been a part of three division championships and two league championship appearances in the past five seasons. 

He donated his time to be a youth football coach for the Christian Youth Council in Kenosha and continues to do so in his hometown with the Cedarburg Colts Youth Football Program.  He has also been a varsity football coach and varsity head track & field coach while spending time at Racine Case High School. 

Outside of his coaching experience, Snieg brings other knowledge to the table having been an assistant sports information director at NCAA Division I for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, NCAA Division II for the University for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and at the NAIA level having done an internship for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.   

Snieg holds a degree in sport management from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and resides in Cedarburg.


#22 Tim Gotzler – Graduate Assistant (1st Season)Tim Gotzler

Tim Gotzler begins his first season as a Wolves graduate assistant after having been a player for the program for the last four seasons. Gotzler joins the Wolves’ coaching staff as the team pitching coach.

Prior to becoming a part of the staff within the Wolves’ baseball program, Gotzler has spent the last four seasons as the assistant coach for Catholic Memorial High School’s baseball program and working with the program’s pitching staff. 

Gotzler will bring a wealth of experience to the Wolves’ pitching staff, having been a member of the team as a pitcher from 2004 through 2007. He had a breakthrough season for the Wolves in 2007, registering the pitching staff’s lowest earned run average, innings pitched, and games started. Gotzler also registered a team high in wins and opposing batting average while also being the captain of the 2007 squad. 

During his spare time, Gotzler has also run camps and was an active member for head coach Michael Zolecki’s annual pitching camps for high school baseball players.

Gotzler is currently working toward a double major of broadfield social studies and secondary education at Stritch and currently resides in Brown Deer.


#13 Trevor Koepp – Graduate Assistant (4th Season)

Trevor Koepp will be entering his first year as a graduate assistant for the Wolves baseball program, but it will be his fourth overall season on the coaching staff. Koepp will be working primarily as the catching coach and with hitters.

No stranger to Stritch, Koepp spent four seasons playing for the Wolves baseball program and was an All-CCAC first team selection his junior season and received honorable mention his senior year.

A tireless worker, Koepp showed amazing durability during his playing days as a catcher by playing in 127 games during his career at Stritch.  Not only did he show durability behind the plate, but Koepp also displayed the rare combination of strong defensive skills with strong offensive skills.

Using his talents on the offensive side of the ball, Koepp has the highest season total of runs batted in of any player in  the program's history with 30 RBI.  He is also holds a lifetime batting average of .353 with the Wolves, 146 career hits, and 12 career home runs. 

Outside of the Wolves, Koepp is currently the head junior varsity coach at Sussex Hamilton High School. 


Spencer Renn – Team Manager (1st Season)BB08 Spencer Renn

Spencer Renn will be entering his first season as the team manager for the Wolves Baseball program.

Renn will be serving the team's needs in many capacities, including overall management duties such as assisting with travel items and general program maintenance. He will be traveling with the program where he will help maintain statistics, help with league reporting as well as daily travel needs.

Currently a student at Stritch, Renn will be double majoring in sport management and communications. 

Throughout his time with the team, Renn will be using the time with the Wolves Baseball program to gain more experience in the field of sport management.  

Renn currently lives on campus at Stritch and resides in Milwaukee.
