Peter Engel (1)Peter Engel is executive vice president of Johnson Financial Group, a locally owned and privately held Wisconsin headquartered company. His primary responsibilities center on business development in the areas of banking, wealth and insurance in the greater Milwaukee marketplace.

Engel’s solid commitment to community and economic development is demonstrated by his service on numerous non-profit boards and community organizations including the Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce, the Layton Avenue West Neighbors, Inc., the national Council for Better Business Bureau’s finance committee, and the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern Wisconsin’s finance committee. Engel earned his master’s degree in management from Stritch in 1983, in the same cohort as his late father Jerry Engel, ’83. He describes graduating with his dad as a “phenomenal experience.” He credits the Stritch program with affirming his belief in the power of teamwork, the importance of giving back to the community, and the concept of aggregate responsibility.

In addition to his master’s degree, Engel holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a paralegal graduate certificate from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines from 1983-1985. Engel has also served as an instructor in the Graduate School of Business at Divine Word College.

Believing in healthy competition and teamwork, Engel has dedicated much of his personal time to coaching and refereeing youth sports. He coached girls’ basketball at the grade school and high school level through Catholic Youth Ministry, and soccer through the local community club.

Peter, his wife Katherine Stecker Engel, their daughter Courtney and their white lab, Lottie, reside in Summit, Wisconsin.
