Stritch Class of 2024 Opening Day Convocation
Cardinal Stritch University marks the start of the academic year with a Convocation during which new undergraduate students are welcomed to the Stritch family.
Director of University Ministry Akua Kankam wrote this prayer that opened the 2020 Convocation:
O God, we arrive today at a place of new beginnings. We are in a place where we meet uncertainty, anxiety, excitement, and eagerness. We are in a place where we dream for the future while carrying the hopes of our family and friends. We are in a place where we come to do the work of Making Peace.
Help prepare us for that work by forming us in our daily lives through our courses, activities, our successes and our failures. Help prepare us by opening our minds to know ourselves and others through You. Prepare us by opening our hearts to hear ourselves, to hear one another, and to hear You.
Help us to understand that in vulnerability there is strength. In this time of learning and growth, make us truly servants who learn how to lead so that we can guide one another into the way of peace.
We offer these prayers to You, and through Christ our Lord,
Amen
