Academic Advising FAQs
Will there be a commencement ceremony this Spring?
Yes, there will still be a commencement ceremony at the Wisconsin Center on Sunday, May 21.
I am graduating at the end of this semester. How does this affect me?
Stritch students who can successfully complete all degree requirements by the end of the 2023 spring semester will graduate from Cardinal Stritch University.
Are summer course options going to be available?
Limited course options may be available for students who are very close to fulfilling their degree requirements. Please work with your academic advisor.
What options do I have to complete my degree?
There will be teach-out or transfer options for students to complete their degree requirements at other institutions. If you are not graduating at the end of the spring 2023 semester, you should meet with your academic advisor to review options prior to deciding which strategy is best for you and your individual situation.
Who can I contact if I have an advising related question?
For all advising related questions, please contact Elisabeth Koerner, Director of Academic Advising, at eakoerner@stritch.edu or 414-410-4091.
What is the difference between a teach-out and a transfer agreement?
Teach-Out agreements for students include benefits that differ from just transferring to another higher education institution. These may include:
- Automatic admission for students in good academic standing,
- Guaranteed acceptance of all credits earned at Cardinal Stritch University,
- Being able to complete your degree in the same amount of time you had planned to, and
- Comparable tuition and costs.
Transferring may indeed be a good option; however, while many institutions accept applications for transfer students, admission is not guaranteed and all the credits you earned at Cardinal Stritch University may not be accepted. Your time to degree may vary, and you would need to apply for financial aid and scholarships offered by the transfer institution and wait for a formal financial aid package to learn your actual tuition and costs.
What is the process for transferring to another institution?
You would start by applying as a transfer student to the institution you are interested in. Talk to your academic advisor here at Stritch if you need additional guidance.
