Dr. Berdie Cowser, '07, '18, honored in "Women Who Inspire" program

Stritch alumna Dr. Berdie Cowser, '07, '18, is being honored in the Women Who Inspire program that is an initiative of the Committee to Celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of Wisconsin's Ratification of the 19th Amendment. The announcement was made by Wisconsin First Lady Kathy Evers.

“As we celebrate women’s vote, from enactment of the 19th Amendment to the Voting Rights Act to the 2020 Centennial and all the progress women have made in the last 100 years, we recognize there is work still to be done,” said First Lady Evers who chairs the Committee, “That’s why the Committee chose to recognize women who are working today for social change and increasing parity for women and girls in Wisconsin.”

Cowser is the director of Bureau of Transitional Housing Programs and Services Center for Veterans Issues, LTD, in Milwaukee. She was nominated for the honor by Wisconsin State Representative LaKeisha Myers.

She earned an MBA and Doctorate in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service degree from Stritch. A decorated U.S. Army veteran, she earned an Army Achievement Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal and an Army Service Medal.
