ART 150 Overview
Arts Integration is an introductory approach to understanding art in both theory and practice. The course addresses how people perceive and understand visual art today and considers both the personal and social meaning of visual artworks within their historical and cultural context. Arts Integration is a multi-media course intended to give students an introduction to the history and terminology of art and design as well as the uses of certain visual media. The class will discuss basic issues dealing with how to look at and understand artwork. Students will work with materials and processes used by artists, combined with a closer examination of several select artists. Arts Integration will consist of lectures, video screenings, group discussions, field trips to view and experience art, written responses to art-related articles, videos and class experiences, quizzes, sketchbooks, studio art projects and presentations about those projects. Lab Fee Required.
