MUE 545 Overview
This course will focus on knowledge of school-wide and individualized positive behavioral supports for students with Emotional-Behavioral Disabilities (EBD). Teacher candidates will identify characteristics of students impacted by mental illness, trauma, poverty and social-emotional learning needs. Candidates will apply understanding of behavioral and other needs to: (1) develop meaningful Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs), (2) evaluate social-emotional skills curriculum, instructional materials and interventions, and (3) identify related community resources and supports.

Social Emotional/Behav Interventn - 2021 Spring MUE 545
This course will focus on knowledge of school-wide structures and school-wide support for special educators in order to navigate academic and behavioral support systems in schools. Individual support/interventions also will be introduced as part of the larger systemic support framework. Teacher candidates will learn to apply this knowledge in transition planning as program considerations.
