NUR 314 Overview

This course focuses on nursing care of diverse patients experiencing mental illness. Emphasis is given to factors that influence the development of mental illness. Person-centered care, communication, and the nurse-patient relationship are addressed. Methods to reduce stigma toward mental illness and strategies to promote quality care outcomes will be examined. The clinical will take place in an acute care setting. Prerequisite: NUR 212, NUR 222 and NUR 224. Corequisite: NUR 300 and NUR 310.
